Remember When?

My children aren't young any more, but I remember when they used to pick wild flowers and bring me bunches of them in their little hands.

Their smiles were as bright as the yellow dandelions they carried to me.

I miss those days and I miss those little bouquets of flowers they thrust towards me with smiles on their faces.

My youngest son is out cutting the grass. I noticed the many violets that dotted our yard and he was cutting them down! I just had to pick some before they were all gone.

I added a few yellow dandelions to my violets and put them in this little cow creamer. Isn't she pretty with her flower hat. I think she could be one of those California Cows they talk about on TV.

Everything is growing now. We're cutting our grass for the second time. The hostas, the iris's, the tiger lillies and the peonies are all popping out of the dirt.

My Bleeding Hearts are already in bloom.

My pear tree is in bloom. This is a pear tree that has pears on it, not just the flowering ones. I sure hope the frost doesn't kill them this year.

It seems like when winter quit, it really quit!

But, I know the frosts will still come and my flowers will get bit. So I am going to enjoy them while I can.

  2. Love the cow pitcher--I've not seen one like it.

I picked violets and bluets yesterday with my granddaughter, Janet. The tiny flowers of spring are enchanting, aren't they?

  3. Our back yard gets covered in those beautiful violets every spring and I just love them too! Have you ever made jelly out of them?? I've seen recipes for it but have never tried it yet.

  4. Hey Janet!

I guess I'm lucky that my kids are still young enough that they pick any and all flowers in our yard and still bring them to me. I can't believe you have already cut the grass twice! Ours needs cut right now but it will have to wait until the weekend. I can't believe how crazy our weather has been. It was 97 degrees outside today! And hot!

Hope you have a great week!

  6. Love the little cow creamer. Spring has really sprung here in Kentucky as well. But, it has been such a dreary winter I am so thankful for it!

  7. Janet, sorry I haven't been around for awhile. It is nice to see spring here and flowers blooming and birds singing and squirrels chasing each other up and down the trees.
I know what you mean about the flowers, when we go for walks my youngest will pick them for his mom.

  9. Yes, those violets are abundant this year. My girls and then my grandkids always picked the wild sweet williams...they smell so good, but they are not out yet...won't be long though.

  10. Janet,
I agree with what you said in commenting on my blog. Yes, chemical plants are also a hazard in our precious state. Our livelihood kills us. Doesn't make sense does it.
Thanks for sharing the cow planter and precious flowers. I love this time of year.
    Blessings.

  13. Oh I miss those chubby handfuls of flowers too. I'm hoping all my stuff doesn't get bit by a late frost too.
