What have you been up to lately? We've been doing a little bit of everything.
While my husband tilled the garden. . .
I put together this shelf thingie. I love these types of shelves. They are very easy to put together. I have two larger ones in my laundry room. I put it together and placed it in the middle of my bedroom closet. We have one of those long and narrow closets that used to have sliding doors on it. I took the doors off and hung up a curtain. We had two shelves across the top (my son had installed a higher one so we would have more storage room). I took the bottom shelf out and took the rod out. Then I re-installed the rod up under the top shelf. This thing I put together then fit underneath and in the middle of my closet. I bought a little rod and attached it below the upper rod on one side so I could hang two rows of clothes, one on top of the other. It's a lot better now. Don't you just hate small closets!
My son climbed up on a long ladder and hung a star on the side of our house.
We planted a blueberry bush.
We hung out under the apple tree and took pictures of the blossoms.
While looking for something in the junk drawer of my son's dresser, I took the time to clean it out.
You would not believe the things I found. . . pkgs of pictures from long ago, fake teeth, a set of valentine cards my son got when he was in grade school, various types of old trading cards, yoyos, yellow diaper pins, money and lots and lots of stuff. Just don't ever store shoe strings in the same drawer as the long curly metal thing you see below. . . I probably don't have to tell you why. I wasted a lot of time in that junk drawer the other day!
But it was worth it, because I found this!
It says Charleston Area Medical Center on the back of it. It is so tiny! It was worn by my now 30 year old, 6 ft tall son. Isn't it just precious!
So what have you been doing lately?
Good morning Janet, Your closet remodel sounds interesting. I wonder if you'd be willing to post a picture of it all finished. It sounds like something I could do in mine and heaven knows I could use more storage room! I love that you found the little shirt - makes cleaning out drawers worth it. :) Spring is always a busy time for me so there's lots going on. We're meeting some friends for lunch today, then my nephew is bringing his new wife over to meet us, I have scones in the oven, we have Bible Study tonight and I plan to walk before lunch! It's a beautiful day - God given for sure. blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteSomehow it never seems like there is enough time in the day to do everything lately. There is not much I can do outside because there are going to be tearing it up soon to put a new septic system in so I have been starting to patch interior walls and stuff trying to make the inside look better, it's a timely process.
ReplyDeleteOf course fishing opens on Saturday and turkey season in a couple of weeks.
Wow, it how did that shirt wind up in that junk drawer? It must have been a long time since that drawer has been cleaned out.
ReplyDeleteWow Janet!
ReplyDeleteYou sure have done a lot of things this week. A good year ago my son aged 5 somehow managed to make the shelf in my closet to fall down. It took me a few months to get everything back in it! Even after I tossed and donated most of it! I don't want to ever have to do that again! lol
You know your junk drawer poses a question. How in the world do we always end up with them? I have one in my bedroom and it if so full I can't add anything to it. I also never get into it either. Do I really need all of that little junk? Probably so.... I don't know.... Crazy isn't it!
Aww...how cool to find the old baby shirt! Good ole CAMC.
ReplyDeleteGardening and working in the greenhouse, Janet, along with a few short road trips and helping my son's girlfriend get ready for him to come home after being away a month. It's a busy time of year all around, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYour junk drawer looks a lot like mine. I cleaned mine about a month ago, and it's slowly getting back to its former glory.
Can't get much of anything done as I have been working six days a wk. and 10 hrs. per day. I have got everyone in the house going through their clothes and getting rid of everything they never wear. Maybe when this is done they will pick up what they do wear and put it away.
ReplyDeleteLove the star-so pretty. Junk drawers are full of treasures : )

ReplyDeleteJanet,
ReplyDeleteWell you have been busy. The star looks really nice, and extra shelves are always good. And cleaning out a drawer and finding a baby shirt is the best.
