Let's Play Dress Up

I'm participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday again, hosted by Colorado Lady. Go visit and see others who are posting their vintage thingies.

I've got a box of vintage hats, let's play dress up!

Here is an old wooden spool I converted into a hat stand.
I put batting on top and put a circle of material around it.

Here's a fancy black one on display.

Another pretty black one.

I like this one with the pretty feathers!

Here's a trio of hats. Pink, Brown and Navy.

These look like they could have been Easter Bonnets.

They look good displayed on the bedpost, too.

Or on the edge of a high shelf.

I love vintage hats.
We lived in the country and I don't remember Mom or any of my aunts ever wearing these kind of hats. I've just seen them in pictures and on TV shows and movies.
Hope you enjoyed playing dress up with my old hats.

  1. I love your hats, we were also from the country, but my Mom and Granny wore hats when they dressed up. Back in the 40's and 50's. Mom loved to dress up when she wasn't working.
She made sure my sis and I wore hats for Easter every year...lol...I wore one till I got married in '61 and never wore another one.

  2. I love your hats! I don't remember anyone wearing them in our family, I think that is rather strange, because I know they were very popular at one time. You have a very impressive collection of hats.

  20. So neat! I sold an old derby with original box not long ago at my etsy shop. I wonder who has it and if they appreciate it for what it is. They wrote me and said they thought it was purple, and were slightly disappointed it was really black. They were looking at the edges of the photo near the background color - sometimes an object will reflect that light. Oh my.....
