I bought this pretty aluminum cake carrier at the thrift store yesterday. I just love it. It is made my MIRRO and I am not sure what decade it is from - maybe the 1970's. Anyone know?
Now, all I need is a cake to put in it.
Let's see - maybe a carrot cake with cream cheese topping, a German chocolate cake with homemade icing on it (my husband's favorite), Grandma's applesauce stack cake, pineapple upside down cake or a delicious yellow cake with chocolate icing.
Can you tell I am trying to lose weight? I like to talk about food when I am trying to lose weight.
What is your favorite cake?
We're on the same page, Janet. Trying to lose weight and food always looks and sounds more appealing than ever. I have the best recipe for a fresh apple cake. I'll scan the photo I saved of it and add the recipe this fall. I plan to be at least 10 pounds down by then. Pretty ambitious, but doable. Love your cake pan!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this Janet! I have a plain aluminum one that has a black handle on the lid. I think they go back further than the 70's.
ReplyDeleteMine was made by Regal Aluminum.
The carrot cake sounds good to me! A very pretty cake carrier.
ReplyDeleteGrandma's applesauce stack cake sounds yummy.

Love the cake carrier! Oh and I will have a slice of each please!
ReplyDeleteChocolate fudge or Coffee and walnut will win me over every time.
I remember similar aluminum cake carriers from the 50s. I thought they were wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove the cake carrier. It's getting close enough to fall for me to start craving a fresh apple cake. Don't know why, but the fall and apple cake just go together!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a cake pan like that before! It's neat looking! You have got to make a German Chocolate cake with your frosting! I made your frosting and it is to die for! Makes me want to make one!
ReplyDeleteHave a Great Weekend!

Don't look at me like that ladies. Yes, I'm a man but I'm also a foodie, an excellent cook, with 19 years online experience and currently employed as a work from home Internet researcher. Always glad to help when I can.
Hi everyone! Thanks for the comments. That is it, Rocketman, except I have the bottom, too. I showed it to someone yesterday and they told me they thought it was maybe from the 70s. But I tend to agree with everyone's comments that it was from the 50s. Internet researcher - that sounds like an interesting occupation.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen one of those in years!
ReplyDeleteI love German chocolate cake. My Mother used to make those. No one else in my family likes them, so I don't make them.
Love it-you always find the neatest things : )
