Saturday

I had a yard sale today and I am exhausted. I was up at 6am dragging everything out of the garage and putting them on tables and hanging clothes on a line. But I also got to look at my husband's cactus, which is blooming.

It has went from this. . .

to this. . .

during the course of the day.

I think they are so beautiful! But don't touch, or you will get many, many fine stickies in you! Take it from someone who has learned the hard way.

During the day I checked on our mourning dove nest in the Catawba tree. The two babies have hatched and are very big! I think they will be flying down from the tree very soon. I hope I get to see them when they do. I am going to make it a point to check on them often. The baby doves are very quiet and still, I have never heard them make a noise or even move. They are very well hidden among the large leaves of the tree.

We can't get the CD part of our son's stereo to work, so we never had any luck in selling it. It is a good radio and cassette player, tho, with great speakers. So my older son thought it would make a nice addition to his workshop.

He now listens to music in style,

while he works.

There's a beautiful full moon out tonight, in case you want to take a look at it before going to bed. Hope you are having a nice weekend!

  1. The cactus flower is so pretty. It amazes me how fast some things in nature develop. If we're not careful to pay attention, we can miss these precious moments.

  2. We also had a yard sale yesterday, and it is a lot of work, though I didn't do much. That is a pretty flower on the cactus.

  3. The dove is so cute...the photo doesn't show the nest....what kind of a nest do they build? Yes... the cactus is really pretty...I wonder how long it will take for the one to bloom that you gave me. Well...I'm still a little upset because I didn't get to go yard selling Saturday.

  4. We need to have a yard sale. Several family. Just can't get everyone organized to set a date. Too much life going on, I guess.
I love the flowers that open in the morning and close at night, but am often too busy to enjoy them when they're open.
The cactus bloom is beautiful. I think my Mother-in-law has some of those. I'll have to go see them in real life.

  5. I wish I'd known about your sale, Janet--I'd have definitely stopped by. We did a few on Saturday, and I'll be posting what we found soon.

The cactus is lovely. Is is a prickly pear? And the little dove--how cute. Seems that things are busy at your place!

  8. Hi Janet. Thanks for visiting my blog. The cactus is beautiful. About the weeds in my garden? It's a lost cause so I just embrace them now - LOL - especially the wild strawberry. It's not going anywhere so I've decided I love it.

    Have a great day.
