Hi, everyone! I've been on vacation since yesterday. We've been in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
I slept here last night (Cacapon State Park Lodge). . .
but, wish I had slept here.
Yes, you read it right. Berkeley Castle in Berkeley Springs, WV.
I bet you all didn't know there was a castle in WV. Well, here it is peeking out from behind the trees, high on a hill. Isn't it the neatest little castle you ever saw. And, it is snuggled in the hills of WV.
And we went to the Chesapeakie & Ohio Canal National Historical Park to see the Paw Paw Tunnel.
Here's looking out from inside the tunnel.
And, we also went here (Berkeley Springs State Park).
We drank the mineral waters. . .
and I stuck my foot here. . .
in George Washington's Bath Tub.
It was a dreary, rainy day. But, we made the best of it. Maybe we'll have better weather tomorrow.
I'll catch up on my blog comments when I get back Friday evening.
Hope you enjoyed your visit to the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
WOW! Thanks for taking us along!
ReplyDeleteA Castle in WV, who knew! You look like your having a good time!
Hi Janet,
ReplyDeleteBerkley Springs is just beautiful. I am going to West Virginia in August, just before school starts. My sister and I have talked about driving to Berkley Springs. Thanks for sharing the pictures of the castle. Looks good.
Blessings
Oh Janet! I know everything you're talking about here! My Sister works at the Stoney Creek General Store in Great Cacapon (Largent) just on the other side of the brige to Paw Paw. I also put my foot in George's bathtub and watched the locals filling plastic bottles with the spring water from the fountain because some of the water in the communities has so much sulphur in it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know you were somewhere I know. :) xxoo

Sounds like a beautiful place. And no, I didn't know there was a castle in WV. I would love to go there and to the tunnel.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this place. Maybe I'll get to go there one day.
Janet-I loved seeing you on your vacation-hope it all goes well!
ReplyDeleteHey Jan, that sounds really interesting. That is one park that I haven't visited...would like to someday.
ReplyDeleteHey Janet,
ReplyDeleteYou're seeing some cool places on your vacation. I've been to most of them, told stories several times at Cacapon. But I've never put my foot in GW's tub! That's a gotta-do.
Great post and pics.
