Deck The Halls
We have three holly trees, but this is the only one with berries. We braved the brrrr cold and gave our decked out tree a little trimming. If you notice, the deer have been eating the berries off the lower branches.
But there are still plenty of limbs filled with berries just waiting for us to trim.
The red berries pop out against the shiny green leaves.
They will brighten my porch on cold days.
Have you been decorating your porch with nature?

The ones without berries are probably male trees. Though needed for berry production, I've heard that they can outnumber female trees 10-1. Don't know if it's true, but that's what I've heard.
ReplyDeleteYou are right! The ones without berries are male. I guess we were lucky that one of ours was female. We dug these up in the woods of a friends house quite a few years ago. They were very small at the time and we didn't know if they were male or female.
