Vintage Thingies Thursday - Old Linens

I'm participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday hosted by Colorado Lady. Go visit and see who else is posting their vintage thingies.

I love vintage linens and I have many. Too many! I thought I would show you a few of them.

Here are some of my embroidered pillow cases.

I just got this recently, I think I paid 25 cents for it. It is a small embroidered table cloth with red flowers in each corner.

I had an old table cloth of my mothers. It was in very bad shape and had holes everywhere. I made a teddy bear with it, now I can look at it every day and think of my mother. This is better than storing it away in a drawer and never seeing it, don't you think?

I have also made tote bags out of old table cloths.

Here are two I love. The one on the left is a dish towel and the 'poodle' one is a table scarf. I am amazed at the work people put into these.

I also like old hankies. If you have a lot and can stand to cut them in half, you can make these pretty angels out of them.

I hope you enjoyed looking at some of my old linens.

A Takin' It Easy, Sunday

We decided to take a few hours on Sunday and do nothing but take it easy.

We drove a few miles down the road to one of my favorite places. . . Cedar Lakes.

(No, this isn't us. But I just had to take this picture.
Looks like someone else wanted to take it easy on a Sunday afternoon, too.)

Here is looking through the covered bridge. You can see the old log house in the distance.

We went to feed the ducks. We stood on the foot bridge and dropped pieces of bread.

The geese soared above us. . .

and the ducks stared up at us.

The walnuts hung on the trees above us. . .

and the leaves are turning colors.

Such a pretty sight to end the day with, don't you agree?

Our Surprise Watermelon

We didn't grow a watermelon patch this year. We didn't have to.

We just sat on the front porch and spit.

Do you think it will have time to get big and ripe?
