I'm participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday hosted by Colorado Lady. Go visit and see who else is posting their vintage thingies.
I love vintage linens and I have many. Too many! I thought I would show you a few of them.
Here are some of my embroidered pillow cases.
I just got this recently, I think I paid 25 cents for it. It is a small embroidered table cloth with red flowers in each corner.
I had an old table cloth of my mothers. It was in very bad shape and had holes everywhere. I made a teddy bear with it, now I can look at it every day and think of my mother. This is better than storing it away in a drawer and never seeing it, don't you think?
I have also made tote bags out of old table cloths.
Here are two I love. The one on the left is a dish towel and the 'poodle' one is a table scarf. I am amazed at the work people put into these.
I also like old hankies. If you have a lot and can stand to cut them in half, you can make these pretty angels out of them.
I hope you enjoyed looking at some of my old linens.
I have quite a few embroidered pillowcases and I have picked up more items at antique booths. Most items I pay about a quarter for. I do like the tote bag you made.
ReplyDeleteI like all of your things, but the poodle is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteJust love them! Have a few things, but not many, from mom's stuff when she downsized to move to her apartment. Wish I'd have kept more of them.
ReplyDeleteI DO LOVE Linens!
ReplyDeleteLove the teddy bear that you made and the TOTES, one of these days I want to make one, and the angles..very sweet!
Warmly,
deb :)
I am with you, I love, love, love vintage linens. Oh, and that poodle is just the sweetest! I loved that one the best...but all your goodies are so pretty! Have a great VTT!
ReplyDeleteThe teddy bear and tote bag are marvelous ideas. This is a great way to put them to good use. I may be using some of these ideas. Thanks so much for sharing. happy vtt
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right about repurposing your linens - much better to see your teddy bear than have it hidden away.
ReplyDeleteI belong to your linen club. I love them and have so many. It does not matter I still would buy more if I could. You have a nice assortment and using them in such neat creative ideas. I participate in Pink Saturday. Our hostess, Beverly, suggest we introduce a new blog friend each week. I would like to feature your blog this coming Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI just recently started seeing the tote bags made out of tablecloths. Such a great idea. There are so many great tablecloths out there that have gravy stains or something in the middle, but the outside (where the decoration is) is perfectly fine.
ReplyDeleteJanet,
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your things. Love everything vintage too. Takes me instantly back to my mom's house in the fifties and sixties. A place I'd love to be right now.
Thanks for sharing. You cannot have too many! Never say you have too many.
Blessings - Barb
You have a lovely collection, I have a few things myself. Some have stains and will be made over into something else. I just love the teddy bear, and you're right, it so much better to have it in view than stuck in a drawer.
ReplyDeleteOh I love love love vintage embroidered pillowcases and tableclothes, etc... I might just have to run right over to WV and snitch these from you! ;-) Earlier this week I had a giveaway with embroidered pillowcases... Anyway, I am your newest follower! Come by and visit sometime! Now I am off to see some of your older posts.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from Vintage Thingies Thursday. What great ideas to use linens! Love the bear. You have such a pretty collection!
ReplyDeleteI love embroidered pillowcases and vintage hankies too but the pillowcases are an all time favorite of mine! blessings, mrlene
ReplyDeleteHi Janet, I absolutely love your pillow cases and I love them myself too. The tablecloth is great too and I have a hard time passing up vintage items like these. Aprons are a favorite for me as well as little handkerchiefs :)

I loved seeing your vintage linens, Janet! Those pillowcases are so pretty and I love your Teddy bear idea! What a sweet way to remember your mom!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! When I see them in shops I always think of all the work someone must have put into them. I think I like your poodle one the best. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI have a few things. I do love them. My mother began making a bed cover when i was a child. It is finished, but it is very light. I would love to make something of it, if I could just figure out what.
ReplyDeleteLove those angels, too!!
Love them all! I have some embroidered stuff from my Mother-Granny-and Mamaw-I sooo treasure them.
