Vintage Thingies Thursday - Wash Bowls and Pitchers

I'm participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday hosted by Colorado Lady. Go visit and see who else is posting their vintage thingies.

Do you remember using wash bowls and pitchers?

I don't, but they are beautiful and I've always wanted one.

I recently acquired two of them.

This large blue and white one has no markings on it, but I believe it to be old. The bowl has crazing on it. I love the flowers on the pitcher.

This smaller white one is old. I don't think the bowl and pitcher are a match, though. But, I don't care, I love it anyway. I like the small size of it, because I don't have a lot of extra room in my house. I also love old scarves and I placed this pitcher on a pretty embroidered one.

I'm thinking the next time our water is turned off because there is a leak in the neighborhood's lines (which used to happen a lot), I just might fill up the pitchers and use them for what they were meant to be used for.

Do any of you have memories of using these? If so, I'd love to hear them.

  3. I found LOTS of things to love over here at your place.

First of all - - - you header picture! Gorgeous! Reminds me sooooo much of scenes in my "rootland" of Vernon County, Wisconsin. (If you put Vernon County in the blog search over at my place, I think you'll see what I mean!)

Secondly - - - bowls and pitchers - - - again you are speaking my language!!! After CRAVING them for YEARS I finally have one set which I love not only because it is a bowl and pitcher, but because the pitcher has a tie to my Vernon County past!

    Thanks for the memories - - -

  11. Janet,
I love pitcher and bowls too. I have a pink set that's old but not real old. In between.

    I love scarves too.

I use everything I have that's old including old dishes and cups to serve cookies and tea to the grandchildren. They feel special and love it.

    Thanks for sharing.
I even love when our electric goes off because we use oil lamps.
R used to collect those. We're out of room now!
    Blessings.

  13. I love your photo of the day! Sometimes I see deer in our backyard drinking water from the pond. I love both the bowland Pitchers. I have one that my mama and daddy gave me when I got married. Maybe I'll post it next week. (I became a follower of yours today) Blessings, Vicky

  14. The blue bowl and pitcher are so pretty, and putting an old scarf under the bowls is a nice idea.
