I went to a few yard sales today. I could have came home after the first one and been very, very happy.
I told my husband that these were my Mother's Day presents to me.
A hand-quilted Dutch Boy quilt. (I think that is what the pattern is called) I just love, love, love it.
It is full size and cost me $5
A Fenton Spanish Lace with silver crest footed cake plate. I've always wanted one of these. They say they were one of the most popular pieces that Fenton made. $1
I'm making a strawberry pie for tomorrow, I think I will display my pie on the cake plate.
A Fenton Birthday Bear and Fenton handpainted cat. $2 each
I am not a very high maintenance girl. Just take me to a yard sale and I am happy.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!

ReplyDeleteI went to yard Sales today too Janet.Didn't find the pretty treasures you found..That little Dutch Boy Quilt, my sister in law makes one for every baby that's born around here..If it's a girl then she makes a Dutch Girl Quilt and vis versa..Your treasures are beautiful..
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you. Our day, we call it Mothering Sunday because it was the one day of the year when the serving girl was allowed to go home to visit mother, is on another day.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love yard sales. I am happy with my purchase today, too. I found a musical, animated Hallmark Snowman that plays carols on the piano for $2 I have always wanted on and they are no longer available. Made my day. That quilt is priceless.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a better Mother's Day present than finding some good yard sale treasures. You hit the jackpot...Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteWow! Happy Mothers Day to you.
ReplyDeleteYou find great bargains! Don't you love gifting yourself? Today Popa took me to Atwood's and bought plants, seeds, and a big ol garden hat to protect my face. Not a dozen roses, but hey, things I needed. :0
ReplyDeleteHi Janet! Wow! What a great find. I have never seen a quilt like that before with the little boy design. I'm so glad you got it for yourself. You will always be glad you did. What a nice collector's piece. My neighbor down the road has a wonderful collection of quilts from the 1930's and 40's. I love looking at them. She lives in a perfectly restored white farmhouse with big live oak trees and spanish moss. Each room is authentically decorated. It is like walking back in time. I hope you have a lovely afternoon ahead! With Love, Delisa :)
ReplyDeleteJanet what some wonderful finds! That quilt is so sweet.
