Okay, this is just a quick post.
I'm going to let everyone know how stupid I am and say . . . Help!
It's not anything all that important, but it is bugging me.
Seems like blogger is always updating and changing things for the better, or so they say. But, it just makes things more complicated for a computer dummy like me. I go by the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
I used to be able to change the color and font of my letters. I could make the title in my heading any color and font I wanted, make the links any color and font I wanted, change my color theme, etc. etc.
Well you see what I'm getting at. I can't do that now. Everytime I go to template design or whatever they call it, all that shows up is a black page. When I click on the links on the left side of this black page, I can't do anything. It keeps telling me that it is not applicable to this template.
The simple thing of not being able to change my fonts and colors has been getting on my nerves for the longest time. I know I can do that with my posts, but I'm talking about the other parts of my page.
I almost had a tizzy yesterday when I was fooling around with it. The template I ended up with at one time didn't have any of my gadgets on the right side of my blog. I seemed to have lost everything except for my profile and a few listings of previous posts. I was so upset, it made me go slice off a piece of the homemade peanut butter egg that I had promised never to take a bite of again!
Well, somehow, I don't know how. I got all my gadgets back. But it made me realize that I shouldn't fool around with it any more and just not worry about little things such as colors and fonts. So now we are stuck with this bright blue until I get up the nerve to fool with it again.
Okay everyone, now is your chance to show me how stupid I am and tell me what I am doing wrong.
Thank you very much.
Hi Janet, each template you try offers a different design, so when you change your template you won't always find your contents in the same place. And some are so different that you will lose some details.
ReplyDeleteIf you click on design, what are you seeing?
And until you click on save, your old template will remain, you will be able to return to it, so you can try some out.
Carole has already said it.
ReplyDeleteWith my template, I have to go to design and then click on 'advanced'. Actually, clicking anything that says 'advanced' makes me feel quite smug. From there, you 'should' be able to change fonts, colours, etc.
Good luck!
What Shirley said - - - go to design, then template design, then advanced. A list of font colors and choices will come up.
ReplyDeleteI'll third that, Janet. I have to used advanced for mine too.
ReplyDeleteDitto!
ReplyDeleteI also have to use the advance setting.
Hi, Janet. I moved over here from Windows Live Spaces when they decided to shift us all to Word Press whether we liked it or not. About the only good thing I liked about the move was that Windows Live Writer (free download from Windows Live Essentials) works with practically any blog host and it's so simple to use it's ridiculous. It's WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get)and allows you to edit fonts, color schemes, images, video clips, etc.I now have 2 blogs up and running, one here and one on Word Press and I use Live Writer to write and edit all my posts.
ReplyDeleteOkay everyone, I click on design, then click on template design, then advanced. Nothing else comes up when I click on advanced. No list of fonts, colors or choices come up. It's still that big black screen and to the right in blue letters it says, "reset title to template default." I'm kinda afraid to click on that to see what happens, but maybe that's my problem and I should click on it to see what happens. :o) Thanks everyone for your input.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that Blogger's aggravation is why some folks go to WordPress.
ReplyDeleteWish I could be of some help Janet. That is why I stay with my same template, I'm chicken about trying something new. The template I have has actually been discontinued, and I'm afraid if I try something new and change it, I'll never be able to get it back. I'm sure the answer is out there somewhere, I appreciate you posting about this because I have learned a lot from the other comments. I hope you are able to iron out these issues soon. Hang in there! Delisa :)
ReplyDeleteI've been reading the comments here and wonder if you've switched over to the new Blogger Editor? I found that a lot of my blog glitches cleared right up once I switched from the old to the new Editor.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when progress brings mix ups along with it-hope you got it all figured out : )

ReplyDeleteHi JANET,
ReplyDeleteBoy don't ask me, I'm afraid to change anything because I might do away with my whole blog. I have to get my Grand daughter to change things for me, and I have no idea what she does, she goes to fast for me to follow. Good luck, I know its scary to fool with.
