First Sign of Warm Weather is. . .

I said I was going to stop going to yard sales.
I said I couldn't fit any thing else into my house.
I said I was going to have a yard sale and get rid of all my clutter and be able to walk in our two car garage again.

Well, I guess I fibbed.

Today is a beautiful day. Sun is shining, temperatures are rising and no rain. We went to four yard sales. The first one was up a road down from my house. They had LOTS of stuff. He said he needed room in his garage (does this sound familiar?) I bought quite a few items from there. The second one I went to I only bought three things and two of those are for the kid's table at our family reunion. I always try to have things for the kids to play with or take home with them at our family reunion in June. The third one I never bought anything! And the fourth one was in the bank parking lot, they were raising money for Relay for Life. I bought a few more items for the kid's table there, also.

This is what the back of our car looks like on yard sale days:

Here are pictures of most of the things I bought.

These bags are full of marbles, some are the round ones and some are the flat ones.
I thought it was a very good buy for only 25 cents a bag.
I'm sure I can find something to do with them.

I love this vase full of flowers

A bunch of new fragrant candles, a Boyds bear, a red iron paper towel holder, chicken pot holder, a group of holiday wash rags, hand made wooden cars and a neat little school desk that opens up on top to put things in.

I got a pretty music box gazebo, wooden plagues with sayings engraved on them, a new pair of long curtains and a cute little heart sign with daisies.

As you can see by the prices, they didn't cost me very much. See why I love yard sales!
I also got my son a computer chair mat to put on the carpet for his computer chair to glide on. He's been wanting one, but we didn't want to pay the high price the stores were asking for them. He loves it.

Have you been going to any yard sales lately?

  1. I love to go to a yard sale if someone goes with me...I'm bashful...LOL!

You could decorate many a flower vase with those marbles...or even make you a few stepping stones for the garden...I've never done it but I did see directions somewhere on line...ask Mr. Google...*giggles*

  2. You bought some things that I would have bought if I had beat you there, lol. I haven't got to go to any yet, plan to go Saturday if nothing happens.

  3. Nope, but it's coming. I can feel it.
You got some great finds there!

  4. Wow! What great finds. I love to go to garage sales.

  5. Hi Janet,
I went to 3 garage sales said "estate/garage sale"...ha ha ...all baby clothes and kids stuff...don't like it when they "embellish" like that..
had better luck at the thrift store. Mostly things to resell.
    Great deal on the marbles.
    Happy hunting...

  6. You have some great finds! I love to go but haven't been in a long time. I need to have a yard sale of my own, soon!

  7. I haven't been to any yard sales lately, but I got 2 brand new Ralph Lauren cotton Pillow cases yesterday for 25 cents each at goodwill. They are cream colored with tiny light blue stripes spaced far apart. I love anything nautical and blue. I also got an older pyrex casserole dish for $1.99 and a divided pyrex serving dish for $1.99. I was excited about my finds. You really had a good day!

  8. I love yard sales but don't get to go very often. You got some great buys! blessings, marlene

  9. I love love yardsales. You never know what kind of treasure you'll find-and like you said you can't beat the prices.

  10. Jan, you know I love yard sales. I haven't been to many yet this year....didn't get to go today because we were traveling back home and it was too late by the time we got here. You always find good ones....I'd love to live out your way.

  11. Great shopping trip, Janet! My opportunities are limited by my job, so I'll have to rely on you to get the best of the ones around here.

  12. You made out like a bandit at the sales. You should make some pretty steping stones with the marbles for your forest floor. It would be so pretty. The hay was a diry job, good thing sonny boy helped ole mom out with that one. I hoper know one blows anymore dandelions into my yard, my goodness I have never had so many, they are taking over. Enjoyed your writing about leaving things be and just enjoying life, I need to practice it more. Thanks for reminding and letting others know it's OK to do so sometimes.
    Hope your weekend is good,
