Writing Wednesday - PiBoIdMo!

It is November! Anyone out there join NaNoWriMo?

Not me. I am a children's writer and I just cannot see myself writing 50,000 words in a month. I think the longest manuscript I have ever written is now at around 28,000 words, and I pulled out a lot of hair to get it to that amount.

I am best at writing picture books, where less is more! Some people do not realize it, but it is really hard to write picture books. It is hard to get that great story with so few words. Every word counts, so you strive to make every word great.

I joined PiBoIdMo! That is translated into Picture Book Idea Month. I have a link to it on my side bar. Members are to come up with a new picture book idea each day during November.

I was getting worried yesterday, I wasn't getting any good ideas. Sure, I was getting ideas, but they were vague, stupid ideas.

I went to bed and voila! (It always pays to have a pencil and tablet near your bed). I came up with an idea, it wasn't great, but it was an okay idea. I got up, scrounged around for a piece of paper and pencil and wrote it down. Then, I came up with a great idea. I reached over and wrote it down. I am so glad I wrote it down, because it is so easy to forget those great ideas that pop up in your head at night.
