I'm addicted to taking pictures of old churches and old school houses--so many of them served as one in the same. Our church served as both until the 1950s.Mary L. The last time I saw hay being put up with horses and shocked was on Rte 33 along this stretch between Spencer and Glenville. The little church is awesome; the Civil War graves, the "stump" gravestone, and its quiet location are all arresting. I wrote about it on my blog a few years ago--http://grannysu.blogspot.com/2007/08/traveling-us-rte-33-and-points-beyond.htmlGranny Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01129064020727041161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3635163323560816578.post-10254853315848377802010-06-24T11:20:01.027-04:002010-06-24T11:20:01.027-04:00What a fun trip! and how neat that you read storie...What a fun trip! and how neat that you read stories to the children. I find it is much easier to talk in front of people when my audience consists of children. :o)Little Penpenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01374048900216199298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3635163323560816578.post-80376601739716706932010-06-24T09:55:38.351-04:002010-06-24T09:55:38.351-04:00Janet,

On our way back from Glenville, we also stopped and took photo's of the octagonal church on top of the mountain, and we stopped and took photo's of the mail pouch barn!

I'd never before been on the road between Glenville & Spencer (I'd been to Glenville, and I'd been to Spencer, but never in between the two) and I was most struck with how the area remains very agricultural in nature. I don't know whether it is because of choice or necessity, but I enjoyed seeing all those little mountain farms.

MatthewMatthew Burnshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02625103538582649633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3635163323560816578.post-51032928147686500502010-06-24T09:26:01.922-04:002010-06-24T09:26:01.922-04:00I love the pictures of the schoolhouse.
